Our Story

Built by Two People Who've Seen Both Sides of a Business

Apex Business Collective was founded by Zachary Ostrow and Shlomo Alima to help new and growing businesses in the Baltimore and Pikesville area set up for long-term success from the very beginning.

We started Apex after watching the same pattern play out again and again: a talented business owner pours everything into their craft (their food, their service, their product) while their bookkeeping piles up in a shoebox and their website looks like it was built a decade ago. By the time they ask for help, the cleanup costs more than it would have to do it right from the start.

Getting your bookkeeping in order from the beginning is one of the highest-leverage things you can do as a business owner. It prevents costly clean-up down the road, keeps you audit- and tax-ready, and gives you a clear, current picture of your finances so you can make decisions with confidence instead of guesswork.

Between the two of us, we bring decades of combined experience on both the financial and technical sides of running a business. That means whether you need clean books, a site that actually converts visitors into customers, or both, you're covered by people who've done the work, not a call center reading from a script.

We named the company Apex because that's the goal for every client: not just "good enough" books and a passable website, but the strongest financial and digital foundation your business can stand on.

Meet the Founders

Two disciplines, one partnership, every client gets both.

Zachary has spent more than six years working with bookkeeping firms across Maryland, with a focus on bringing new technology and modern tools into the bookkeeping space. His goal has always been to help business owners stay organized while truly understanding the financial story behind their numbers.

At Apex, Zachary applies that same mindset to the websites and digital systems we build for clients, using the right tools to make a business easier to run and easier to understand from the outside looking in.

Shlomo has worked in financial roles, as both a bookkeeper and a Chief Financial Officer, for more than 30 years. Throughout his career he has brought that expertise to small businesses, local restaurants, and non-profits, helping them understand and grow their organizations from a financial standpoint.

More than a decade ago, Shlomo turned his focus toward small business bookkeeping, committed to providing steady support, guidance, and knowledge to business owners, especially those just getting started. Apex Business Collective carries that commitment forward: the name is a nod to Shlomo's long-standing practice, ABC, Accounting and Business Consulting.

What We Believe

A few principles that shape every client relationship.

Foundations First

Clean books and a real online presence aren't optional extras, they're the foundation everything else gets built on.

Plain-English, Always

You shouldn't need an accounting degree or a developer to understand your own business. We translate, not lecture.

Local & Accountable

We're based in the Baltimore & Pikesville area and work with local businesses directly, no outsourced call centers, no disappearing after the sale.
